9. "On And On" - The Velveteers
The Velveteers join us with their track "On And On", released on December 19. Their single features two other previously released tracks: "Suck The Cherry" and "Go Fly Away", with "Go Fly Away" being the most mellow of the three. They're also all featured on their newest album, A Million Knives, which came out on February 14.
Baby Pottersmith and Demi Demtrio give us the inside scoop on their latest music.
Inhailer Radio: Talk a little about how you came up with your track “On And On”.
Baby: "It started off as a really terribly distorted voice memo of us jamming on that main riff. Over a year went by before we actually tried to make something out of it. Demi and I eventually recorded a loop of it with a drum machine and her guitar, at first we were inspired by SexyBack by Justin Timberlake. Demi had me leave the room after setting up a loop record for her to improvise vocals over the beat. I left for like 15 minutes and when I came back she had most of the song recorded through out the various loops she’d just done. Then we just pieced things together."
Inhailer Radio: How did you choose the sound for your recent album “A Million Knives”?
Baby: "Sometimes making an album can be like giving birth sort of. We don’t really know what we’re gonna end up with or what it’s gonna be until it’s here."
Inhailer Radio: What was a source of inspiration for your album and what do you hope listeners can take away from it?
Demi: "A lot of inspiration came from the human experience, in specific with heartbreak and the many forms it comes in."
Inhailer Radio: Anything else you’d like to share? :)
Baby: "Trans people are real and will always have a safe place at our shows. . . We make music for queers and hope people who need it can find a like minded community through our music and shows."
