THE A LIST (2.23.24)

Updated: Mar 3

Sultry and funky Chicano Batman enters this week's top 10 with their disco bop "Fly" this week, and The Black Keys' "Beautiful People (Stay High) re-enters with a bang (What an anthem, truly). Alt rock veterans Cage the Elephant and Real Estate claim space on our A List.

Also, Alabama Shakes' Brittany Howard also enters the chart with a psych house pop bop that will really get ya on the dance floor. We love her sonic evolution between genres. (Read her interview with Rolling Stone on the new single, "Prove It To You" here)

10. "Fly'" - Chicano Batman

It's giving 90's vibes. It's giving fluidity. Psych soul LA based Latino band Chicano Batman has been thriving since 2008 and show no signs of stopping.

9. "Prove it To You" - Brittany Howard

Brittany Howard made waves across the nation with Alabama Shakes. Her solo sound is a bit dancier than Shakes', and extremely refreshing. Disco vibes. We love it

8. "SPRINTS" - Adore Adore Adore

"Do you adore me?

Am i everything you wish you had?"

Sprints once again consistently graces the chart with their in-your-face sonic scape of rebellious guitars that recount the tumultuous dynamic of obsession that makes us want to mosh pit in a basement.

 7."Mood Ring" - Dehd

It's turning us on - sonically and otherwise. Dehd delivers a . You can check out the tracklisting for their upcoming album, Poetry, as well as upcoming tour dates on Stereogum.

6."Everything's Beautiful" - Hiatus Kaiyote

Soul funk group Hiatus Kaiyote grace us with sultry vocals and killer bass lines in this track off their full length on Brainfeeder Records, out now.

5. "Beautiful People (Stay High)" - The Black Keys

After a few weeks hiatus on The A List, Longevous souls The Black Keys are BACK and badass as ever. Snappy and clappy, these guys are always able to deliver a true catchy anthem. We like the killer horn arrangement and group vocals. This song is a banger! We will be "nah nah"-ing till the cows come home after hearing this.

4. "Water Underground" - Real Estate

The fact that it's 2024 and Real Estate is still thriving says a lot. Real Estate has a classic alt rock sound that has permeated through the scene consistently for decades. They'll also be stopping through Ohio on their "Infinite Jangle Tour" on April 12th (tickets here).

3. "Neon Pill" – Cage The Elephant

Stepping down from the #1 spot last week but still thriving is Cage The Elephant's new tune. We are just so glad they're still making music.

2."Burning Down The House (Talking Heads Cover)" - Paramore

Paramore covering Talking Heads? Are you kidding me?? Part of A24 Music's tribute album for Stop Making Sense called "Everyone's Getting Involved," Paramore has sincerely understood the assignment (read more about the tracklist artist lineup on Hypebeast here)

Hayley Williams has the vocal ability of a true eternal being. It's a mystery how she does it, but we're glad our ears are reaping in the benefits. (If you want to hear a truly unique Hayley Williams vocal sound bite, skip to 2:49)

1. "A Love International" - Khruangbin

Claiming the #1 spot this week is Khruangbin as they deliver a beautiful sweeping arrangement from their upcoming album ‘A LA SALA', out April 5th on Dead Oceans.
