#10 "Speaking In Tongues" - In The Pines
If you live in the 513 and don't know of In The Pines then what are you doing? They've performed at Nelsonville Music Festival and have played alongside artists such as Soccer Mommy and Acid Dad. In The Pine's newest single is this psychedelic rock song, with reverb vocals and synthesizers streaming in the background.
Their third studio album, Painting By Numbers, is out November 3rd with Soul Step Records. In The Pines also is celebrating with an album release show on November 18th at Woodward Theater!
#9 "Days Move Slow" - Bully
We are obsessed. With. Bully. This one is hot off her recent album and it's reminiscent of an early 2000's Avril Lavigne hit. Bully is the solo project of Alicia Bognanno out of Nashville, Tennessee. This past summer she opened for the Pixies and now has a recent single out with Soccer Mommy.
#8 "It's Alive!" - Ratboys
If you know Inhailer Radio, you know we love Ratboys. With their recent release of their newest album, The Window, Ratboys received a lot of great and well deserved attention. With Julia Steiner's twangy and effortless vocals, a wide variety of alternative genres, (some leaning more alt-country others alt-rock) what's not to like? Of course, our favorite is "It's Alive!"
#7 "Away From The Castle" - Video Age
All the way from Nola we have the latest Video Age release - and we are so here for it. The duo said their upcoming "album is a testament to the possibilities that come from getting out of your comfort zone" and that they have "strayed from nostalgia and instead have honed their own unique musicality." We are loving this single so far and so happy you're here to jam with us.
Their next album, Away From The Castle, comes out October 27th - make sure to tune in!
#6 "Little Black Flowers" - Woods
Sitting pretty at #6 we have "Little Black Flowers" by Woods. This song is dreamy, it's ethereal, and tranquil. Woods has begun to experiment with a folk sound and it is breathtaking!
#5 "Skipping Like A Stone" (feat. Beck) - The Chemical Brothers
Halfway there? Already? We just started though! It's always going to be a good song when there's a Beck feature, and any Brothers track is just plain fantastic. This one is fun and upbeat, featuring an immensely creative music video - it's worth a watch!
#4 "Run Away With Me" - Cold War Kids
The Cold War Kids have continuously made hits for nearly 15 years and they just don't stop coming! The "First" band dropped this "soulful pop tune about two desperate, down-and-out lovers." It's catchy and we love it!!
You keep me up all night, feel it in my chest
I'm givin' up this fight, I got nothin' left
I wanna breathe you in, put your fears to rest
I'll show you everything if you take a chance
#3 "Ready For You" – Cherry Glazerr
Woah. Clementine Creevy can really sing a tune. "Ready For You" is raw, it's grungy, and Creevy's vocals are ever-so powerful. The Los Angeles band said that the song is about "being so ashamed of yourself that you can’t look people in the eye and...pushing people away because of being scared of hurting them with your own bullshit."
Their newest album I Don't Want You Anymore, is out on September 29th.
#2 "INEEDIT" - Season Ten
Need a local alternative band? We've got you served with an entreé of Season Ten. The quartet has been a band since their sophmore year of high school. Now, they've released four amazing albums and they're onto the fifth.
Season Ten is throwing a release party for their newest album Brainstorm on October 6th at Woodward Theater - you won't want to miss it!
#1 "Underwater Boi" - Turnstile, BADBADNOTGOOD
Last, but mostly certainly not least, we have a collab with Turnstile and BADBADNOTGOOD, who collabed on EP this past summer. Reworking the original "Underwater Boi," this new version is funky, it's groovy, and just what we need for our number one spot!
A Youtube commenter said "I would try on so many pants at Urban Outfitters to this" and I think that explains a lot.
Same time next week? Make sure to tune into this weeks A List!
