The Nude Party: Blues/Punk and Partial Nudity at The Woodward

They’re a gang of underdressedーno, stark-naked, punk troubadours playing 60’s-era surfer rock and inciting rebellion, revelry and sweet, sweet vibes!

I’m talking, of course, about The Nude Party- the retro, post-punk mountaineers from Boone, North Carolina who, just last month, released their first full-length, self-titled album. The band has been touring all summer alongside fellow rockers Ron Gallo and Oakley Munson of the Black Lips who produced the album.

The Nude Party draws heavily on the punk vibes of late 60’s rockers like Lou Reed, The Who, and Booker T and the MG’s. Blending blues and psychedelic with West Coast punk, the band has created a sound all their own.

On September 12th, the band will desecrate Over the Rhine’s historic Woodward Theater with one rowdy, perverted performance. It’s tough to say what you can expect at a show from a band like this, but just as their name promises, The Nude Party has been known to… put on a show (with or without clothing).

Most likely the band will be performing songs off their latest album, including ‘Chevrolet Van,’ a Rolling Stone inspired, country-ish, punk anthem about people telling you to grow up and get a job: “You’re gunna wake up someday, and you’ll wish you got a job”.

People are always saying “they don’t make music like they used to,” but those who listen to The Nude Party would have to disagree. This band is picking up the torch bands like The Who, and The Velvet Underground left for us and offering a healthy dose of originality with it.

Be there!

When: September 12, doors @ 7, show @ 8 Where: The Woodward Theater How Much: $8 in advance, $10 at the door
