Black Signal, Jess Lamb and the Factory, and Harlot will be playing an array of genres throughout the night at Wooden Cask Brewing Company on April 14th. Jess Lamb and the Factory bring home-grown, soulful rock, Harlot serves their indie folk revival sound and Black Signal is a dark electric group with space-age tunes. All three have a distinct sound but are connected through their exciting takes on three different genres that appeal to any audience.
Jess Lamb and the Factory promise an exciting show. “The Factory” is made up of Warren Harrison and Kasey Williams that back Lamb’s vocals and piano with keyboards, bass, and guitar. Their modest group formed January 2015 in Over-the-Rhine with 25 years of experience in songwriting, arrangement, and producing between them. Jess Lamb won 2016 Cincinnati Entertainment Award (CEA) Artist of the Year, her Bandcamp has 11 albums and 5 collaborative albums featuring Zebediah Williams of Zebras and Buggs Tha Rocka. Her music is soulful, pop- r&b, full of life and emotion. Her live shows display her love for music and her enchanting voice.
Then there’s Cincinnati’s newest folk group, Harlot. Made up of only Molly Rhiannon Morris and Ellie Mae Michelle, they describe themselves as “heartfelt, melodic, and driven by simple instrumentation with complex vocal harmonies.” The duo ’s soft angelic voices are backed by them playing the banjo, guitar, and mandolin. They bring Americana alive once again with their roots tied in many places and sounds and their live performances humble and authentic.
Headlining the show is Black Signal, a synth-wave band from Northern Kentucky that gives their audience an electric night through their music and LED performance. They’ve released 3 albums, their first dating back to Dec. 2011, and have caused an impact on Cincinnati’s local music scene with their dark and otherworldly style. The band is made up of 5 members, Matt Ogden, Joe Thompson, Patrick Apfelbeck, Eugenius, and Von Claire. Their shows are lit with LED helmets and live visual projection that awarded them the 2014 & 2016 CEA for Best Electronic Art and nominations in 2015 and 2017. Black Signal navigates the depths of the deep with the stage as their cockpit, giving the audience an experience in itself and an opportunity to dance.
The three Cincinnati bands bring the eclectic mix of dark electronic, soulful r&b and Americana revival, a night of dancing, drinking, and music full of energy. This night will bring something for everyone to enjoy at in this grassroots show.
