Northside Yacht Club is the place to be for a night full of acoustic guitar and creative soft rock music. Columbus native Steven King will take the town along with one of Cincinnati’s favorite all-girl groups, The Ophelias!
Being on the road comes naturally to Steven King (and no, we're not talking about the infamous horror author!). Starting out as a photographer for touring bands, Steven wanted to be on the other side of the lens. In an interview with Columbus Alive, Kings said, “Moving all the time is what keeps me alive and keeps me going, and I don’t think that will ever change.” This will be the last show of Steven's tour, and the first time he's performed at the Yacht Club.
With the help of Cincinnati’s own Foxy Shazam guitarist Loren Turner, in 2013 King produced his first EP: Tamerak! In January 2015, King released his first album, Shakin' in My Boots. Kings most recent production is his 2016 EP What We Need, featuring "Better When I’m Older" and "One on One." King considers himself a space cowboy, a singer-songwriter specializing in raw sound and the power of an acoustic guitar. He’s always on the move, so catch him while you can; he's an amazing local performer that you wont want to miss.
Inspired by nature and art, The Ophelias are a four-piece work of art themselves who creativity and everyday beauty to craft a dynamic and welcoming sound. The group is made up of Spencer Peppet on lead vocals and guitar, bassist Grace Weir, Micaela Adams rocking the drums, and Andrea Gutmann Fuentes bringing out the beauty of her violin.
The latest single "Night Signs" has brought the group over 100,000 plays on Spotify and has become a hit around the country. Take a listen and fall into the band's first album, released in 2016: Creature Native. It doesn’t stop there: these four girls really know how to get a crowd hyped, and with their powerful and creative performances you’ll quickly fall in love.
