Tayfo's Top 20

But you can just call me TayFo.

Hey there, listeners! If you've caught our radio stream, you've heard a lot of great songs. We look for only the best local and national music and we like to think we have pretty good taste. Of course, we'd love for you to make your own assessment, but if you've ever wondered what our "sound" is, what songs we're excited about behind the desk, here they are: our Top 20.

Most of the songs on here get around 8 or 9 plays a week, so you'll hear them quite a bit. They're the collective picks of all our station's DJ's. For example, when I noticed Mardou started getting a good amount of plays, the DJ's were ecstatic and wanted to hear more. You can catch them at Santamania (yikes) on December 16th, or at Junker's Tavern on the 20th.

Utah band The Aces just played up in Columbus this past weekend, along with Spoon and Alvvays. The Aces only have an EP out, but that single, "Stuck," is Grade-A. They get a lot of comparison to Haim.

I just missed the opener at Diet Cig, unfortunately, but I saw the main act. The lead singer of Diet Cig tore her ACL a few nights before, just through her antics. She jumps around A LOT. So she toned it down that night, but still jumped around… but just on one leg.

Leggy sent us their new single as soon as they got back from their European tour. It's a Leggy song… It's less punky and screamy - I don't want to say it goes all the way to pop, but it's a little more in the line of traditional song writing than their typical punk variations.

St. Vincent is our honorable mention here: you've probably seen us play them quite a bit, but with so many great tracks, we can't pick just one to put in this list. If you want to see them live, they'll be in town at the Taft Theatre on January 11th.

So without further ado, here's our Top 20:
